Launching the Spirit of Shackleton

Launching the Spirit of Shackleton

15th May @ 4pm – Dún Laoghaire Plaza

On Friday 15th May, a new chapter in exploration begins with the official launch of the Spirit of Shackleton.

Taking place at Dún Laoghaire Plaza at 4pm and officially launched by the President of Ireland, this event marks the introduction of a 70ft yacht built for purpose – ocean science, youth development, and real-world adventure.

The Spirit of Shackleton is not a symbolic project. It is a working vessel, designed to go to sea, to support research and to create opportunities for the next generation through direct experience on the water. It reflects a simple idea – that Shackleton’s legacy is not something to admire from a distance, but something to actively continue.

This launch is the starting point. From here, the focus shifts to deployment: programmes, expeditions, and partnerships that put the boat to work.

Attendance is by invitation. RSVP to naomh@atlanticshackleton.org
