The Atlantic Shackleton Global Foundation (ASGF) is delighted to announce the launch of its US World Tour, beginning this July in California in partnership with The Explorers Club Northern California Chapter.
The tour opens with two special evenings featuring ASGF Co-President and celebrated shipwreck explorer Mensun Bound, known internationally as the “Indiana Jones of the Deep.” Bound will share the extraordinary story behind the two search expeditions that led to the discovery of Sir Ernest Shackleton’s lost ship Endurance, widely regarded as one of the greatest maritime discoveries of modern times.
Each evening will also include an introduction from Naomh McElhatton, Executive Director of the Atlantic Shackleton Global Foundation, who will outline the Foundation’s vision and its ambitions for the Endurance2 project, alongside an introduction to the Foundation’s 70-foot ocean platform, the Spirit of Shackleton.
Guests will have the opportunity to attend a signing session of Mensun Bound’s acclaimed book, The Ship Beneath the Ice, following each event.
California Dates:
28 July – Hopkins Marine Station, Monterey
30 July – St. Francis Yacht Club, San Francisco
These events mark the beginning of a wider global journey for the Foundation, one that brings together exploration, ocean science, youth development, education and adventure, carrying forward the Shackleton spirit to new audiences across the United States.
